Outcome count / denominator

Enter your values, then calculate.

Outcome ratio = completed outcomes ÷ chosen denominator × 100

An event-count ratio. For a share of converting sessions, enter sessions with an outcome as the numerator.

THE SHORT ANSWER

Enter a completed-outcome count and the population you want to compare it with. The calculator intentionally leaves that choice visible. A ratio based on clicks differs from one based on sessions, and an event count can differ from the number of visits containing an event.

Work through it, step by step.

  1. Choose sessions, users or clicks as the denominator and use that same definition throughout the comparison. Name the outcome being counted.

  2. For a share of converting sessions, use sessions containing the outcome as the numerator. For an event-count ratio, enter the events and label the result accordingly.

  3. Keep raw counts beside the result and check traffic mix before interpreting a change as an experience improvement.

ILLUSTRATIVE EXAMPLE · NOT CUSTOMER DATA

Make it concrete.

Forty outcome events across 2,000 sessions produce a 2% event-count ratio. If some sessions contain multiple outcomes, that is not necessarily the percentage of sessions that converted.

What to keep in mind.

A result over 100% may indicate repeat events or incompatible inputs. It cannot represent a share of distinct sessions unless the numerator was defined incorrectly.

Your next useful step.

Use the conversion-rate-drop guide to check measurement and segment changes. Keep the event definition and comparison period in the report.
